Abstract
Customary courts in Sanwi’s, basically indexed on a social-gynecocracy, constitute a cultural phenomenon of territorial sovereignty of Agni’s people. Thus the challenges of communal integration and safeguard of the vital space, related to the recurrence of disputes on land, make their massive mobilization a socially legitimated institution. However their arrangement with the modern courts on the same space crossed by separate legal orders, legitimate the mindedness of the social impact of this institutional pluralism, in terms of efficiency in land regulation. Ultimately, it is by the adaptation’s paradigm and not of substitution that these customary courts could fully contribute to local development through land security.
